addiction
A form of disturbed Shen. Humans have the capacity to become
easily attached to certain activities, modes of thinking or
behavior. Excessive attachment, with the inability to let the
attachment go, is viewed as addiction. Most humans develop
numerous dependencies in their life times, many of which can be
viewed as addiction.
It is a goal of all paths of radiant health in the Orient to
become free of addictions and to overcome obsessive behavior.
Certain herbs have been used for at least two millenia for this
purpose. Reishi mushroom and Wild Ginseng are the most famous
herbs used for this purpose, since they have profound
adaptogenic and Shen developing qualities. Other herbs that are
very useful include Schizandra, Lycium, Ant, Rhodiola, Snow
Lotus and a wide range of Shen stabilizing herbs such as Spirit
Poria, Dragon Bone, Albizzia Flower and Bark, and Red Asparagus
Root. Shen tonic formulations are all very useful in helping
people to overcome addiction. Will Power is another
formula that can have a profound influence.
